Prelude- State Cups

Well the odds were sort of high but kids can surprise you.  Going into The 2013 Washington State Youth Soccer State Cup the DD's coaches were pretty high on the teams' chances of winning State. With the State title comes a trip to Regionals. The way Washington State soccer goes, the younger ones team finishes up their championship before the older age group.  So the stage was set.

The "little" girls (13/14 year olds) had a good looking chance to win it. They stormed through bracket play winning all of their games. The Championship game was played in the stadium at Starfire under perfect conditions. But the opposition didn't whither, they bent, but the keeper made some great saves and they pushed the game into overtime, and worse, kicks from the mark.

After all the work, we end up losing. Finalist. No patch. The silver lining is that the state received a wild card slot at Far West Regionals for the age bracket, allowing both Finalist to participate in the championships in Hawaii.  Aloha!

Meanwhile the older daughter's team battled through their bracket in State cup and worked their way to the Finals. It wasn't an easy road but in the end, after 7 years of trying. They ended up being a State Champions!  The Regional competition for her team was being held in Boise, ID.
